REUTERS has reported that - Diminutive North Korean Despot Kim Jong Un [1.6m/5'2"] has announced that its nuclear deterrent is ready, willing and able to counter any military action by his arch enemy the US and told South Korea´s new president Yoon Suk-yeol warning him that Seoul was pushish both sides to the brink of war.
He took the opportunity to make the statement at an event to mark the 69th anniversary of the July 27 Korean War armistice, which left the two Korea's technically still at war, according to the official KCNA news agency on Thursday.
"Our armed forces are thoroughly prepared to respond to any crisis, and our nation's nuclear war deterrence is also fully ready to mobilise its absolute strength faithfully, accurately and promptly to its mission," Kim said.
He also seized the opportunity to issue a stark warning South Korea's new conservative President Yoon Suk-yeol identifying him by his name for the first time since his inauguration as he accused the South of threatening the North´s security.
Meanwhile US President Joe Biden is hoping to assuage tensions with China diplomatically over Taiwan with a call to Xi Jinping in what would be their fifth call since Biden took office. The call may take place as as soon as today [28/07/2022] by outlining the intentions of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a possible visit to Chinese-claimed Taiwan.
White House officials have said the "long-planned call" will have a broad agenda, but in addition to the visit by Pelosi they are also scheduled to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which China has yet to condemn. Click Here to receive our full Analysis direct to your inbox or Smart device
